Biblia Chat is designed to collect as little data as possible. You don't need to create an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other information that personally identifies you. Your reading progress, your prayers, and your settings stay on your device. Your chat conversations are also saved on our servers — but only under a random, anonymous identifier that we cannot and do not connect to your name or identity.
The app works without any registration. To manage your subscription and understand how the app is used in aggregate, a random, anonymous identifier is generated and stored securely on your device. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or Apple account, and it does not allow us to know who you are.
Your reading progress, your responses to the daily moments (including any prayers you write), your theme and Bible version preferences, and your settings are stored only on your device. This information is not sent to our servers and is not currently synced to iCloud. If you uninstall the app, it is deleted. Your chat conversations are kept both on your device and on our servers — see the next section.
When you use the chat, the message you write and the history of that conversation are sent, through our server, to our artificial intelligence provider (Anthropic) to generate the response. We store your chat conversations on our servers so we can provide support, improve the app, and detect misuse. These conversations are associated only with the random, anonymous identifier described above — never with your name, email, Apple account, or any information that identifies you personally. We cannot and do not tie them to a named individual, we do not sell them, and we do not use them to figure out who you are. Even so, because you may write about personal matters, we recommend not including information that could identify you (such as your full name, address, or financial details) in the chat.
Purchases are processed by Apple and by RevenueCat, our subscription management provider. We never receive or store your card details. RevenueCat associates your subscription status (active or not, and which product you purchased) with the anonymous identifier described above, so the app can unlock paid features and restore your purchases.
We use PostHog, an analytics service with servers in the United States, to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs. We record events such as: completing onboarding, viewing the subscription screen, sending a chat message (its length and whether you typed it or chose a suggestion, but not its content here), logging a reading day, completing the daily moment, and completing a prayer. We also store the answers you give during onboarding — such as your denomination, age range, goals, prior experience with the Bible, and the short reflection you write about what you are going through — along with the cost of generating each AI reply. We also receive automatic error reports. All of this is associated with the anonymous identifier, not with your identity; it cannot and does not identify you by name. In addition, PostHog may capture visual replays of the interface to diagnose usability problems; in these, all text you type and all images are automatically masked, so the content of your prayers and conversations never appears.
Notifications (the daily reminder and the free-trial-ending notice) are optional and are scheduled locally on your device. We do not use remote push notifications, and no notification identifier is sent to our servers.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or audio. We do not use advertising identifiers or ad networks: the app has no ads. We do not sell your data to anyone.
The app is not directed at collecting personal information from minors. We do not knowingly request personally identifiable data from children.
You can delete all locally stored information by uninstalling the app. If you would like us to delete the conversations and usage data associated with your anonymous identifier, or you have any questions about your data, contact us at the address below.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example if we add new features such as iCloud sync. We will publish the revised version in the app and indicate the date of the last update.
